Sep. 12th, 2022 03:36 pmSpending an entire week in next year's team budget planning meetings is exhausting.
Somehow it's both surprisingly simple and bloody complicated at the same time. Maybe it's due to it being the first time.
I guess it's a big irony of any technical career — you start out of curiosity and thirst for a good technical challenge, thinking it all a nerd's dream job and then you blink and fast-forwarding ten years you find yourself in a position where you spend most days talking sense into other people and ranting to your wife about crazy ass schedule with overlapping meetings. All of it while having to acknowledge you wouldn't really want to dial it back a notch or two because you immediately lose in capacity to take a big steaming dump on bad decisions and shill good ones merrily.
Mixed feelings to be honest, it's all bloody weird. I'm still trying to get a grip on all this. I guess I'll get used to this.
